Text Box: HUNTERS HELPING KIDS - Waynesboro Valley Chapter Youth Gobbler Hunt April 2, 2011

The Waynesboro Valley Chapter held their third annual spring gobbler youth hunt in Virginia.
Five youngsters, their guides and parents set out at daybreak full of excitement and anticipation.

Eleven year old, Matthew, scored on a nice bird at mid-morning. Several of the kids had “close encounters” with gobblers but unfortunately did not connect. However, they all said that they had a great time and were “hooked” on turkey hunting.

Wesley Chesser (Waynesboro Valley Chapter) on the right and Tom Stumpf (retired from the Secret Service) on left, guided young Matthew on his first spring gobbler hunt.
Matthew’s dad, Steve, and his friend Tom came from Haymarket, Virginia to participate in the hunt.

Weighing in at approx. 20 lbs. the gobbler sported an 11 inch beard and 1 inch spurs.
